After making ALTAR, I wanted to make an even more elaborate rosary necklace, once again inspired by the hypocrisy of early catholicism, a religion which was supposedly about charity and selflessness but ended up adorning clothing and cathedrals in intricate designs and precious metals. I see this as the definition of avarice, which is ironically one of the seven deadly sins.

This gold necklace took over 5 hours to complete, featuring some of the most difficult adornments I've ever made.AVARICE is approximately 50cm in length, handmade from 24k gold plated stainless steel, Czech glass beads and freshwater pearls and joined with a 18k gold plated stainless steel t-bar clasp. Pearls are one of the most elegant semi-precious stones and these irregular pearls make each piece totally unique. Pearls must be handled with care to ensure longevity.

As this necklace is handmade there may be slight variations in appearance. As pearls are natural stones, there may be slight indentations, cavities and/or differences in colour on some stones. Our Gold plated chainmail pieces require more care to ensure longevity. Ensure to read our Care Info page to learn how to look after your Gold jewellery. Gold plated metal will tarnish over time. Every effort is made to ensure the pictures are representative of the items, however lighting and screen quality may distort the appearance of the pieces.
